A while back, I bought a new GeForce GTX 560Ti video card and it came with a free copy of Batman: Arkham City which wasn't even out yet. When the game unlocked on it's release date, I got into it and it was okay. Kind of seemed like a carbon copy of the first game but whatever. Then, I actually went and upgraded the rest of my pc as well. After a fresh install of Windows on my new hard drive, I go to play the game and behold! My save game is missing. I knew it wasn't because I didn't back it up, it was saved to the Steam cloud, so what the hell?
Well, it turns out the save files have DRM on them, and the encryption key for them is unique to your Windows installation so if you reformat or anything, your saves are trashed. That's...awesome. I'd played five hours of the game only to have to start over now? That's pretty shitty. Eff off Batman, I'm going back to Skyrim.
